Just checked the weather report for the weekend and it looks like more of the same for tomorrow: cool, cloudy, light rains (ie: perfect running weather). I love these mellow grey days that gently usher in the Fall; they warn of the impending chill and seem to actually inspire physical change inside our bodies. It’s as if something deep inside of our beings gently massages our cells and minds into initiating some manner of primal winterization. My taste buds change. I crave different foods. I think of Octoberfest. I want beer. I want dark, flavorful draught beer in a heavy pint glass. Bring on the pumpkins.
But, I’m getting ahead of myself… there is still plenty of summer weather left. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t practice for the good beer-drinking weather now. Magnetic Field is a prime place to excercise your pint glass chops. They have a nice selection of taps and bourbons (B-B-B-Blantons), plenty of seats, and some excellent bartending. Simply put, it’s a great watering hole. It’s also an excellent rock venue.
Tomorrow is The Mugs last show in Brooklyn before we leave for the American wilderness and we intend to celebrate. We are going celebrate by drinking beer and bourbon, by playing Buck Hunter and pool, and by playing nice looong hour-and-a-half set. We start at 9-ish and will keep it going until 11-ish. Those in attendance will be treated to some forgotten classics and the debut of 2 BRAND FREAKING NEW SONGS.
And Joe and Lori.
Hell yes.
So come lounge with Brooklyn’s finest in Brooklyn’s finest whilst drinking Brooklyn’s finest. Come early, stay late. We will.
